I am overjoyed to present a teen author on my blog today. When life surprised Dominick Cura with a diagnosis of Celiac disease, Dominick Cura responded with, what else, a Gluten-Free Cookbook and a positive attitude! Please enjoy our discussion about his life and his book.
Jennifer: Before you were diagnosed with Celiac disease, were you interested in cooking?
Dominick: No, I had no interest in cooking, I started cooking when I got a
gluten-free cookbook that had plenty of delicious recipes and so I
wanted to try them out and then I made my own recipes.
Jennifer: What prompted you to share your recipes with the world?
Dominick: To give good gluten-free alternatives for sweets to people with Celiac
disease and to inspire people when they find out it was written by a
teen and that all the recipes were made by a teen.

Jennifer: Did you ever dream you would write a book?
Dominick: No, I had never dreamed or thought I would have written a book, it was a big surprise and I'm so happy I wrote the book!
Jennifer: What is your favorite recipe in "Eternally Gluten-Free"?
Dominick: I have many favorite recipes and they are constantly changing. My
favorite recipes right now, are carrot cupcakes and Struffoli an Italian
dessert of fried balls of dough the size of marbles, then dipped in
honey and shaped into a dome.
Jennifer: Please list the links on the web where we can find you: website, author Facebook page, Twitter, Youtube etc.

Jennifer: Do you have plans to write another book?
Dominick: Kind of, I am going to have a new book but it will just be Eternally
Gluten-free but with some more recipes, So I am just going to add to it.
I already have some more recipes for it.
Jennifer: You are thirteen years old and an inspiration to others, who has inspired you?
Dominick: I was just inspired by celebrities who make a difference and since so
much people know them they can make a difference to so much people and I
hoped I could be like one of them so I decided to try to make it happen
by first writing a book.
Jennifer: What do you like to
do when you aren't cooking?
Dominick: When I'm not cooking, I'm working on the computer adding stuff to my
blog and looking to promote my book, playing cello, rock climbing, or
just listening to music.
Jennifer: Do you have any other big projects you are working on?
Dominick: Yes I do. I'm planning on making a documentary about Celiac disease
because I don't want to be an author when I grow up, I want to be a
movie director so I want to make a documentary that way it would be good
for my career when I'm older to have made a documentary at a young age.
I also am making it to raise Celiac disease awareness of Celiac disease
even more.
Jennifer: Is there a message you'd like to send to others dealing with Celiac disease, or any challenge?
Dominick: Yes, At first Celiac my seem very bad and like there is no more food to
eat ever again because you cant have gluten, but don't keep making
yourself think that because you will find a lot of new foods and I bet
some positive thing is going to happen, maybe you'll start cooking a
lot, or you decide to write a book, just don't make yourself feel that
it's the end of the world, because it's actually a better new world!
This doesn't just happen if you have Celiac disease, It can happen with
any negative thing, you just have to make the negative thing open up
something new and positive.
