God's Country

Today I woke at 4am to load my daughter and her pony into the truck and we drove to Napa for a Pony Club horse show.

We just got home. Long day! We were the hosting club so we set up the show grounds yesterday, ran the show today and tore down this evening.

I can't promote The Pet Washer on days like today, no time. At one point, I got to sit down and take in the view and reflect. Jack London called this part of California, "God's Country." In fact, I drove by Wolf House on my way out to Napa.

He's right. It's blue-ray, big screen, 3D, beautiful! I spent my day entirely outdoors, not a computer in sight, not even a cell phone signal to tempt me and I was restored. Adding to the beauty was my daughter and her borrowed wonder pony, Comet, wonderful families, and athletic horses competing in an arena surrounded by vineyards and foothills. It was a perfect day topped off when my husband and sons showed up for the awards ceremony. All of us together!

I realized that I wouldn't change a thing in my life if all my "dreams" came true. I would live the same life, just with more money. I already have everything I want! This reminded me I need to take breaks to enjoy it because my kids are getting older, I'm getting older.

When it comes to The Pet Washer, all I have are hopes and dreams. But this life I'm living every day is real and it's good. I get so caught up in my stories and my dreams that I lose sight of what I have. Sometimes the best thing is to walk away from all of it--if just for a day--and accept reality. Good or bad, reality does not bend to my pen. It must be experienced to be appreciated, enjoyed or changed.

My imagination, my hopes and my dreams will always be there, even when I'm dead, (I believe). But I can't be so certain about tomorrow.

To Do: Don't forget to live!
