Day 121--Selling Your eBook on Goodreads

Did you know that Goodreads sells ebooks? I discovered this feature about two weeks ago. Goodreads' authors can access this feature.

Go to Author Tools and Click on Upload eBook and follow the directions. Authors set their own prices and limit how much of the book can be read for free as a sample. I set my sample at 20% and I set the price to match Amazon's sale price of $2.99.

eBooks for sale are uploaded as .epub files. This was easy for me. I went to my Smashwords account where I can download my own ebook for free in almost any kind of file, including .epub. I downloaded it, saved it, then uploaded it to Goodreads.

Now if you click on The Pet Washer, readers have the option to purchase my book from online stores or directly from Goodreads to any kind of ereading device or app. Payment is made through Paypal. If you don't have a Paypal account, you can open one for free. Goodreads pays a 70% royalty.

Caveats:
Once one person buys your book, you are not permitted to delete or upload a revised copy.
You must upload in .epub to sell the book. If you want to make if available for free, you can upload a ,pdf file.
Books are DRM Free.
Your file must be less than 50MB.
The site says it takes 1 to 2 hours to process the ebook, but it took two weeks before my book was processed and available for sale.

To Do: Check out Goodreads and consider making your book for sale there. I believe in making my book as prevalent and easy to purchase as possible.
